How to avoid letting fear run your life
(and stop feeling like you’re not good enough)

We want to feel brave enough to put ourselves out there, but that feels crazy and dangerous.

Have you looked around lately? Everyone’s snarking on social media. Something as simple as a favorite brand changing its logo can inspire fierce debate and even name calling. So when we feel brave enough to make an offer, set a boundary, or, heck, even express a preference, it can feel like an act of extraordinary courage.

We’re well aware of our shortcomings. Rather than learning to appreciate ourselves, wouldn’t it be better to learn how to be more productive, efficient, and effective?

There are so many things on the to-do list that there’s no time or space to focus on what would make us happy. Instead we focus our energy on what matters to other people and tell ourselves that one day it’ll be our turn to relax, recharge, and do what we want.

And it’s not like we aren’t trying to do the right things.

We’ve taken more courses than we can count. Listened to podcasts. Read self-help books and articles. Watched motivational videos on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Tried yoga, meditation, and kombucha. Pushed ourselves to feel the fear and do it anyway. But we always seem to wind up right back where we started.

Something’s gotta give.

Presenting: Space for You

You don’t know yourself as well as you think you do.

We’re taught so many things in school, but we aren’t taught to get curious about ourselves. We aren’t taught how to use our strengths strategically and effectively. We aren’t taught how to spot thinking traps and disarm them. We aren’t taught how to navigate emotions and explore the stories behind them.

Which would be fine if we wandered around thinking happy thoughts all the time. But we don’t.

You know what’s ironic?

You’re actually really good at noticing others’ strengths and seeing ways to help them be successful. And you’ve spent a lifetime being attuned to other people’s emotions and making strategic shifts in your behavior to get better results.

But you’ve never learned to turn these talents toward yourself.

Now there’s Space for You to learn about yourself.

  • Discover more about yourself, your values, and what truly drives you through interactive activities and deep reflection.

  • Start appreciating your unique strengths, talents, and life experiences, leading to a strong sense of self-worth and confidence.

  • Connect with others in a real and supportive way, building meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging within the group.

  • Experiment with new ways of thinking and doing things in a safe space that encourages growth and personal exploration.

Space for You to Discover

The activities in Space for You sessions will teach you things about yourself that feel right and true–and somehow also fresh and new.

You’ll discover opinions and desires that have flitted through the back of your mind, perhaps many times through the years, but they never fully captured your attention or inspired deeper thought. Until now.

One of the best things you’ll discover is that being yourself helps others to be themselves. It’s a gift for everyone when you truly know, like, and trust yourself (quirks and all). And Space for you is the place for that.

Space for You to Appreciate

You have strengths, perspectives, and experiences that leave the rest of us slack-jawed with awe, but you write them off as simple or unimportant.

Not in Space for You. Through our activities, you’ll practice stepping into your gifts, feeling your competence, and acknowledging your impact–in a way that you won’t be able to brush off as simply compliments from people who want to be kind.

And by helping others see and value their strengths and experiences, you’ll see that your self-doubts are normal, common, and not as significant as you feared.

You know what the ripple effect of that will be?

Your imposter feelings will diminish and your confidence will grow, because you’ll see yourself in a more empowering, 100% true way.

Space for You to Connect

Being a pet pro can be a lonely, isolating job. Space for You ends that. It’s intentionally designed for interaction, connection, and conversations about things that matter. You’ll find your people here.

When you belong to a Space for You group, you will help the other group members grow when you listen deeply, offer support and encouragement to others, and share your ideas. They’ll reflect back things they learned from you, little asides that you didn’t think were that important. Similarly, you’ll find yourself reflecting on Space for You conversations days later as you go through your daily activities.

The learning and growth happen both in and outside the session. You never know what will resonate with someone else, and we need everyone’s full participation to make the magic happen.

Space for You to Experiment

Wouldn’t it be great to have Space for You to safely try new things, practice new skills, and expand your comfort zone? This is the safe place to take action and see what happens so that you’ll have a few reps under your belt before you try things out on your clients, friends, and family.

As you learn about yourself and give yourself permission to be yourself–out loud and unapologetically–you’ll develop a trust in yourself, a knowledge that you make wise decisions and can adjust as needed.

By honoring your commitment to yourself (perhaps for the first time), you’ll discover that taking care of yourself is the most helpful thing you can do for everyone you care about.

What we'll cover in the program

Each Space for You cohort will be a unique experience that builds on a common framework. Our journey will have a set direction, but your needs, questions, and interests will play a significant role in determining how we proceed.

Here are some topics that will be addressed in each cohort:

  • How to be supportive and inclusive of one another throughout this learning experience.
  • How emotions are experienced and processed in the body.
  • How your compensating strategies keep you stuck in the conflict between what you want and what you have.
  • How anxiety serves you, so you can use this powerful emotion more effectively.
  • How to see your incredible competence more clearly and take more credit for your success.
  • How to create positive change by identifying and shifting some of your thinking patterns, so that you can finally stop arguing with yourself.
  • Why most advice is not helpful, and when and how to give effective feedback.
  • How to gain a clearer understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs, leading to greater self-insight and personal growth.
  • What factors will help you develop a stronger sense of self-assurance, allowing you to step into your authentic self with confidence.
  • How to foster healthier and more fulfilling relationships by first establishing a positive and nurturing relationship with yourself.
  • How to cultivate resilience by identifying effective strategies to navigate challenges and setbacks and developing a deep trust in your ability to handle whatever comes your way.

Program Details

How is this program conducted?

We’ll be meeting on Zoom for a 90-minute session once a week for six weeks. Colleen will facilitate each session around its theme, and she’ll provide a combination of personal and interactive activities that are designed to teach you something about yourself, to give you a new perspective on why things are the way they are, and to open up a wider range of possibilities. There will be a mix of solitary, small group, and full group interactions.

(Hate Zoom? Just think of it as giving your nervous system some practice being seen, taking up space, and not dying. We are here for you. It’s going to be okay. 😄)

What does it cost?

The course fees have been kept very affordable to enable individuals who are interested and committed to participate in this training program, regardless of their financial situation. The premium membership is $299 (and can be split into two payments if desired).

Is there a self-study version?

Nope. This kind of learning is best done in community. Being with other people who are having similar, but uniquely personal experiences will help you understand and integrate your insights. The discussions will broaden your perceptions and offer you more avenues of choice.

Do I get any support between sessions?

Yes. In addition to having the opportunity to ask questions in every live session, there will also be a forum especially for your cohort where you can share what you’re noticing between sessions and also ask Colleen any questions that pop into your head at random moments. Also with the premium package you get 3 months of email support from Colleen as well as a bonus follow-up group session.

What if I can't attend the course and wish to opt-out?

These groups have limited enrollment. We're saving a space for you. Understanding that emergencies can occur unexpectedly, refunds will be provided if your spot can be filled from the waiting list. Please reach out to us promptly in such situations, and every effort will be made to accommodate your needs.

Hi, I'm Colleen Pelar, and I created a Space for You

I don’t know what’s right for you. I don't pretend to have all the answers. And I’m certainly not going to tell you what you should do.

But I can help.

I’ve created a Space for You that’s full of questions, activities, and interactions to help you find your own answers, to discover what’s true for you, to appreciate how you’ve shown up for yourself in so many ways, and to experiment with new ways of being more fully yourself.

I don’t want you to struggle the way I did.

You see, for a long time, I was always pushing myself to learn more, work harder, and do better because I wanted to do things “right” (you know, in that way that no one, anywhere or ever, could criticize or judge me for, hmm).

People-pleasing, perfectionism, and procrastination, these were constant parts of my experience. It was a never-ending struggle to control all the variables and do #AllTheThings. There was no finish line, no lasting sense of satisfaction for a job well done, no way to ever feel complete.

After a period of burnout and compassion fatigue, it took me years of learning on my own to feel brave enough to bring my full self out.

I’d love to shorten the learning curve for you.

Space for You combines eye-opening personal experiences with the power of group learning and connection. It’s a powerful way to deepen your learning and give you access to your inner wisdom.

I’m also 100% aware of the irony that if a Space for You group had been offered to me when I was struggling, I would have been tempted to join, but there’s a chance I might have been too timid to try it.

Don’t make that mistake! If you need this kind of support and are hesitating, give yourself the gift of joining a Space for You group and discover a new appreciation for yourself and your talents.

I would love to help you give yourself the space and grace to create a life you love. Sound good?

What this program is about

Space for You will help you develop a greater appreciation of your own personal journey and your unique talents and perspective.

It’s a place for you to learn about you, and you’ll get a glimpse of some of the beautiful brightness that others see in you.

It’s also a safe and supportive place to explore different perspectives, practice new skills, and figure out what’s right for you, without any pressure or misguided advice.

What this program is NOT about

It’s not about fixing you. You aren’t broken. In fact, you haven’t given yourself nearly enough credit for all your competence and life experience.

It’s not about revealing your deepest, darkest secrets or forcing vulnerability. It’s about sharing everyday experiences and finding ways to make them better in a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where everyone's journey is respected and valued.

It’s not about finding “The Answer” because there are no one-size-fits-all solutions and life isn’t a problem to be solved. Instead you’ll uncover personal insights that work for you and teach yourself how to spot others in the future.

More thoughts about working with Colleen

I was a bit blown away.

Sometimes just saying things out loud can bring a lot to your attention. Colleen was able to hear things in what I was saying that I didn't realize. That was very helpful.

It came down to breaking it down and isolating the specific parts that were giving me trouble. With Colleen's help, I was able to focus on those and treat that small part that isn't really small.

Rebecca brame
Ruby Dog Training

I've worked with a lot of different coaches over the years and have had mixed experiences. From the initial consultation on, I felt seen, heard, and supported by Colleen, which are feelings I've rarely had with other coaches.

Colleen's loving support gave me the confidence to not only expand my business, but also make some challenging, life-changing decisions in my personal life.

I feel more confident in my potential, and I feel even stronger in my belief that I'm on the right path for me.

I most definitely recommend coaching with Colleen. She was able to re-form what I told her into clear, unique ideas I could use immediately.

I felt so at ease with her and never felt any judgment. I finished each session feeling uplifted.

What happens if I miss a session? Will I fall behind?

Every session will be recorded, so you will have access to the activities and group discussions. Breakout rooms will not be recorded.

Catching up with the recording is a really good Plan B, but if at all possible, try to attend live. The real magic happens when we gather and co-create an experience. It won't be the same for any of us without you.

How much time will I need to put in outside of class?

Not much. Each session will include optional homework activities to help you take the skills and insights and apply them in your daily experiences. Most of these will take just a few minutes, and the majority can be done once or multiple times, depending on your whims.

How many people are in a cohort?

Each cohort will be capped at 8 participants plus Colleen. This keeps the group small enough that you’ll get to know the other participants and large enough to offer lots of diversity in thought and experience. Plus, nine blocks line up well on a Zoom screen making it easy for you to see the whole group.

One last thought, my friend. I'm sure you've heard the statement that "the best time to plant a tree was 30 years ago, the second best time is now." It's true.

Now is your point of most power. Today is the day to begin.

Make a commitment to yourself that begins today and will last forever. Dive deep inside to learn who you are, what matters most to you, and how to embody your full self.

You don't need to change yourself; you need to know yourself. You are learning to live life on your own terms. Think about what that commitment means to you.

And remember,

You are enough. Always. Just as you are. 💛
